Željka Cvijanović, the Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has stated that Bakir Izetbegović, president of the SDA (Party of Democratic Action), is once again issuing threats toward Christians, Serbs, and Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Cvijanović reminded that the Constitution guarantees equal rights to all three constituent peoples, and that Izetbegović should have accepted this fact long ago.
“The idea that Bosniaks — Muslims — should be superior because of their numbers, while Christians should be subordinate, is entirely in line with his extremist agenda,” Cvijanović wrote on X.
She emphasized that a new era has begun, one that will gradually neutralize Izetbegović’s radical politics.
“It would be far more useful for him to stop dreaming about a unitary state, because such a thing will never exist in Bosnia and Herzegovina. And frankly, there’s no need for him to make such threatening statements to impress his own voters — he will defeat the Troika in the upcoming elections anyway,” Cvijanović added.
Izetbegović had stated the previous evening, during an SDA event, that it was time to put an end to a situation where Bosniaks, who make up over 50% of the population, are reduced to only one-third of the power.
