Gradiška: The 32nd edition of the Serb folk illustrated calendar “Danica” promoted

The 32nd edition of the Serb folk illustrated calendar “Danica” was promoted at the Cultural Center in Gradiška, organized by the Vuk Karadžić Foundation. Gradiška remains one of the leading cities in Republika Srpska by the number of subscribers.

This year’s edition is dedicated to Branko Radičević, the Chronicle of Matica Srpska, and collectors of Serb folk heritage. In addition to its traditional sections, the calendar features the works of award-winning poets and writers from the previous year. A special part of the publication is “Danica for the Youth”, which has been published since 2009.

“We have a Svetosavska Reader with an excellent contribution by Bojan Jovanović and an impressive selection of literary works and art. The edition includes numerous award-winning poets and writers, produced in cooperation with the Association of Writers of Serbia. I would particularly highlight Danica for the Youth, which is, without exaggeration, the best magazine for children and young people currently published in Serbia,” said Boško Suvajdžić, President of the Assembly of the Vuk Karadžić Foundation in Belgrade.

Gradiška currently has 78 subscribers, placing it among the leading communities in the Serb cultural sphere.

“Most subscribers inherited the tradition from their parents or relatives, so Danica remains a part of family libraries and cherished heritage. There are also new subscribers who see the edition, printed in Belgrade, as a bridge connecting us culturally and emotionally,” explained Snježana Miljković, President of the Vuk Foundation branch in Gradiška.

The Serb periodical Danica has been continuously distributed in Gradiška since 2002, with the city subscribing annually to 50 copies, maintaining a proud two-decade tradition.
