President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik said that the announcement of a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, to be held in Hungary and hosted by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, is “excellent news”.
“The normalization of relations between Russia and the United States can only benefit us. It will also expose how foolish Europe has been in all of this. Nothing depends on them — nor on Volodymyr Zelensky, who will have to be included in the process simply because he lives in Ukraine,” Dodik told Glas Srpske.
He emphasized that this represents a major diplomatic success for his friend Viktor Orbán, and an opportunity to create a broader framework for dialogue beyond the Ukrainian issue.
“If the Balkans come onto the agenda, I still stand by the idea of forming a commission composed of Russians, Americans, and representatives from our region, to jointly address Balkan issues,” Dodik said.
