Trifković: Ukraine’s defeat could create problems for Republika Srpska

Professor of international relations and Republika Srpska senator Srđa Trifković believes that a Ukrainian defeat in the conflict with Russia could negatively affect Republika Srpska, as European leaders might try to reassert their influence “on the backs of the Serbs.”

“If the Euro-dwarfs — Macron and company — face a major setback in Eastern Europe and suffer defeat in Ukraine before managing to rearm, they will want to prove their strength by imposing their will through the Balkans, at the expense of the Serbs. A Russian victory would therefore pose an acute risk for Republika Srpska, as Berlin, Paris, and London would seek to compensate for their loss through actions against us,” Trifković told ATV.

Commenting on the shift in U.S. policy toward Bosnia and Herzegovina, Trifković said it is evident that the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo is no longer the “driving force of anti-Serb policy,” but warned that this does not necessarily signal a fundamental change.

“In a way, Washington’s abstention is news — if nothing else, it means reduced pressure. But that doesn’t mean a future Trump administration would be willing to confront its European allies. It’s good news that the Americans are no longer accomplices, but we shouldn’t expect them to pursue an active policy opposing European interests,” Trifković noted.

He added that Milorad Dodik had long served as a testing ground for judicial and political tactics similar to those now being used in France against Marine Le Pen.
