The decision of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), led by President Milorad Dodik, to participate in the upcoming early elections in November reflects a nationally responsible policy toward Republika Srpska, its institutions, and its citizens, stated Staša Košarac, Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Milorad Dodik is the President of Republika Srpska, elected by the will of its people in democratic elections. He is a leader and statesman whose voice matters — and will continue to matter — in Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina. That is a reality, however painful it may be for Sarajevo and certain individuals within Srpska,” Košarac emphasized.
He explained that the decision to take part in the November elections comes out of necessity, since opposition parties refused to recognize the sincere call for Serb unity and a joint stance in boycotting the vote.
“A boycott makes sense only if all political entities adhere to it. That is the only way to fully expose the deceitful scheme orchestrated by political Sarajevo, the illegitimate Christian Schmidt, and unconstitutional institutions acting against Srpska and its bodies,” Košarac stated.
He accused the opposition — “aligned with political Sarajevo and the occupier Schmidt” — of seeing these elections as an opportunity to seize power against the will of the Serb people.
“That would mean that a minority without the support of the Serb nation could take control and decide the fate of Srpska. This is the scenario prepared by those who seek to dismantle Srpska’s institutions, undermine its constitutional position, and erase the Serb people’s political will — reducing them to a statistical error in their vision of a unitary, Islamic Bosnia and Herzegovina,” he warned, adding that “their campaign relies on undemocratic principles, legal violence, unconstitutionality, and a media machine that has capitulated under their occupation.”
Košarac underscored that SNSD will not fall into this trap, asserting that “the defense of Srpska and Serb national interests remains sacred, our motivation, and our guiding principle.”
“We made a difficult but correct decision — to participate in the elections — because our policy represents the will of the Serb people. Rest assured, we will win overwhelming support from the citizens of Srpska. Our struggle is not personal, petty, or partisan, but a fight for the preservation and strengthening of Srpska, and for the equality and dignity of the Serb nation,” Košarac concluded.
