The European Union is making the same mistake in Ukraine as it did in the Balkans, but Russia cannot be surrounded by NATO troops and isolated in the same way the Serbs once were, said Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik.
“The European Union is repeating the same major mistake in Ukraine that it made in the Western Balkans. We believe that everything that happened to us in the former Yugoslavia served as a testing ground for the Western architects of global neoliberal processes who were preparing for Ukraine. Of course, the situations are not comparable—Russia cannot be surrounded by NATO forces and isolated the way we Serbs were,” Dodik said.
He noted that Hungarian policy remains the only voice of reason in the West.
“It simply assesses the positions of all sides, lays out the facts, and it’s easy to conclude that the current euphoria about Ukraine’s accession to the European Union contradicts everything we know about it,” Dodik stated.
According to him, countries with undefined borders and deep economic and social problems do not join the EU.
“It is clear that Western strategists need to draw Ukraine into their ranks so they can always blame Russia. What they don’t understand is that the Russians simply don’t care what they do. Russia has its own path, and I can assure you that Russia is stable—it has no internal problems that could destabilize it. The policy pursued by President Putin is aimed solely at stability,” Dodik concluded.
