The International Music Festival “Autumn Sonata” will open in Banja Luka on Monday, October 6, once again presenting audiences with performances by leading artists from Austria, Belgium, Russia, Bulgaria, and Spain, said Mladen Matović, director of Banski Dvor, in a statement to SRNA.
Matović expressed satisfaction that this festival, which sells out year after year, confirms that Banja Luka has an audience for artistic music when quality content is offered.
“The festival is conceived as an elite, multi-day music event, a gathering of top musicians from the country and abroad, and a national and international forum of the highest artistic standards,” Matović noted.
He added that he is proud the festival—now in its eighth edition—has gained significant recognition in the world of artistic music, overcoming challenges and obstacles in organizing such a major international event.
“The strength comes from our ever-growing audience, who joyfully welcomes each edition of our Autumn Sonata. In the future, the festival will continue to further stimulate the musical and cultural development of both the city and Republika Srpska,” Matović emphasized.
The festival will open at the Banski Dvor Cultural Center with a concert by the Austrian string quartet Acies, one of the country’s most active ensembles, which has performed on prestigious stages from Tokyo to Paris.
In the following days, the Belgian ensemble Ataneres will perform, followed by soloists from Moscow’s Valentin Berlinsky Quartet, while the closing night will feature a concert by Ludmil Angelov, a world-renowned pianist and one of the foremost interpreters of Chopin’s music.
