Govještica Cave, one of the main tourist attractions of Rogatica, has once again drawn the attention of speleologists. This time, experts came from Bologna and several other Italian cities.
The cave lies in the canyon of the Prača River in Rogatica. Researchers praise it for its unique morphology and a cave system that stretches nearly 10,000 meters. This makes it the largest cave in Republika Srpska.
The Director of the Tourist Organization in Rogatica, Predrag Ujić, told Glas Srpske that the team resolved several uncertainties from earlier research.
The visit also provided new findings. The researchers discovered four new caves, which will now be subjects of further exploration.
The head of the Italian group noted the positive cooperation with the local community. He thanked the local Tourist Organization and announced that they will soon deliver a detailed report about their exploration of Govještica Cave.
