At the Russian House in Belgrade last night, the exhibition “Iskra” by academic painter Renat Rakić from Banja Luka was opened as part of “Days of Srpska in Serbia”, followed by a concert of the Banja Luka Chamber Ensemble of the Academy of Arts.

At the ceremonial opening, Sarita Vujković, Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Republika Srpska, said that the exhibition “Iskra” had already been presented at the beginning of the year in this museum, where it was one of the most visited, and was also opened in Budva.

She emphasized that Rakić is an artist highly respected by the public, and for almost two decades he has been running an engaging painting school attended by many students – both future students of art faculties and talented children.

Rakić stated that Russian painters were his role models and that he was pleased to exhibit specifically in the Russian House.

He explained that the exhibited works were created after a traffic accident, during which he could not see for nearly three months and withdrew into his inner world. The paintings, therefore, represent a kind of inner vision of himself.

At the concert of the Chamber Ensemble of the Academy of Arts in Banja Luka, the performers included flutist Marija Pilipović, violinists Sonja Vojvodić and Teodor Ikanović, as well as violinist Srna Majar and cellist Lidija Paulin.

Pilipović pointed out that the repertoire featured composers of Russian origin, but also from Republika Srpska, among them the most prominent composer and ethnomusicologist of Republika Srpska and of all Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vlado Milošević.

“His works have a very specific compositional style, with a lot of dissonance and sharp rhythm, as well as motifs taken from folk tradition,” Pilipović added.

The Representative Office of Republika Srpska in Serbia has been organizing the manifestation “Days of Srpska in Serbia” for 13 years.

This year, “Days of Srpska” are being held in 13 cities across Serbia – Belgrade, Sombor, Sremska Mitrovica, Kruševac, Subotica, Požarevac, Novi Sad, Kragujevac, Kikinda, Zrenjanin, Kraljevo, Vranje, and Niš.
