This year’s Book Fair in Banja Luka is one of the richest and most diverse editions, as it marks 30 years of existence, thereby proving its quality, said Petra Ivić, head of the event, which closed this evening.
Ivić emphasized that the Book Fair is one of the events Banja Luka’s citizens can be proud of, as it records a growing number of publishers as well as visitors each year.
“We are recording an increasing number of exhibitors from across the region, as well as visitors who tirelessly came to us every day, and this was further enriched by the accompanying program, such as book promotions, speeches, awards to publishers and writers, and other activities,” Ivić told Srna.
She pointed out that the Fair this year was much richer and more diverse than in previous years when it comes to publishers, and that there were also new ones.
“We are especially pleased that the Institute for Textbooks and Teaching Aids from Podgorica was with us, as well as publishers who specialize in graphic novels. We are limited by space, but if our capacity were larger, the number of exhibitors would also be greater,” said Ivić.
Ivić noted that thanks to the cooperation of Glas Srpske, the Ministry of Education and Culture of Srpska and Serbia, participation was enabled for smaller exhibitors who financially could not exhibit independently.
The Fair was ceremoniously opened on September 16 in the Borik Sports Hall with a speech by Serb writer, screenwriter, and academic Dušan Kovačević.
The Fair is organized by the daily newspaper Glas Srpske, and for its realization this year the Ministry of Education and Culture allocated 25,000 KM.
