Milanović speaks about BiH in New York

Croatian President Zoran Milanović said on Sunday in New York, where he met with members of the Croatian community living there, that the Croats in BiH are being deprived of their rights, stressing that they must be allowed to elect their own representatives.

He pointed out that Croats are having their rights taken away, while at the same time they are expected to remain loyal citizens.

“That people must be granted the right to elect their own representatives,” the Croatian president emphasized.

He also stated that he does not agree “that things were not defined clearly enough in Dayton.”

“The problem is that they were defined clearly, but there is theft, deception, and appropriation,” Milanović said.

He stressed that this is a matter of equality, not political bargaining.

“It would be a smaller problem if things had been left unclear so that additional consultations would be required. But here it is about the conscious deprivation of rights of one constituent people,” Milanović noted.

The President of Croatia will today attend a summit marking the 80th anniversary of the founding of the UN, after which he will also participate in the International Conference on the Peaceful Resolution of the Palestinian Question and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.
