Deputy Minister of Defense in the Council of Ministers, Aleksandar Goganović, stated that it is clear political Sarajevo has long been running a campaign directed against Serb representatives and interests.
“There is absolutely no justified reason for the dismissal of General Gojko Knežević, nor can it happen, because the Serb member of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, will not allow it. This is solely about political pressure and an attempt to destabilize the defense system, which is completely unacceptable,” Goganović emphasized.
He added that the Chief of the Armed Forces, Colonel General Gojko Knežević, is a responsible professional who performs his duties conscientiously and in accordance with the law, and that a politically motivated campaign against him is being waged without any basis in fact.
“General Knežević will always have my full support in his work,” Goganović told Srna.
Federal media reported that the Minister of Defense in the Council of Ministers, Zukan Helez, could request Knežević’s dismissal after he attended the military parade in Belgrade and saluted during the performance of Serbia’s anthem, but that the BiH Presidency is the competent authority for such a decision.
