The 12th Fair of Economy, Agriculture, and Tourism in Brod gathered more than 100 exhibitors from Republika Srpska, the Federation of BiH, Serbia, and Croatia. It was also an opportunity to present the development potential as well as the economic achievements of the municipality.
The range of participants was diverse, from small family businesses to established companies. For Jadranka Šukurma from Brod, the fair was a chance to promote her products. Milk, cheese, whey, and goat milk soaps were just part of her assortment.
“This work can provide a living. Milk and goat meat are the most sought after,” said Šukurma.
A local company producing metal washers for the automotive industry, employing 210 workers, also presented its products, which are exported to the EU market.
“We produce 15,000 tons of steel products annually. All of it is for export, and we work with all the major buyers, manufacturers of motor vehicles,” highlighted Dejan Simindžija from the company Sky Adapter.
Ravna Planina has become an increasingly popular destination for vacation and recreation in Srpska. Since the beginning of the year, it has recorded more than 20,000 visitors, and they believe that the recently obtained status of an air spa will attract even more guests.
“The most attractive features are the ski slope, Dino Park for children, the gondola under construction to connect with Jahorina, then the lake with pedal boats, zorbing balls, swimming area, picnic spots, and zipline,” said Duška Vuković from the Ski Center Ravna Planina.
The main goals of the fair are the development of entrepreneurship, showcasing economic potential, and attracting foreign investors. The municipality has provided numerous incentives for new entrepreneurs, and there are also plans to establish a duty-free zone.
“We are in talks with seven potential investors, and I can say that in the past five years there has been no construction in Brod. Currently, the process of issuing building permits for five facilities with a total area of more than 15,000 square meters is underway,” said Milan Zečević, Mayor of Brod.
The Government of Srpska will also provide support to this border municipality in the coming period, all with the goal of economic progress.
“The Ministry will continue to support agriculture, water management, and forestry, just as it has until now. That is our task,” said Milan Gavrić, Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management.
The two-day Fair of Economy, Agriculture, and Tourism, which gathered not only domestic but also exhibitors from Serbia and Croatia, is both an exhibition and sales event.
