Stevandić: Srpska and Serbia promote peace and stability

The topic of today’s forum is the contribution of parliamentary cooperation to preserving peace, stability, and economic development, which significantly differs from the topics being imposed elsewhere, said Nenad Stevandić, President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska.

At a press conference following the third session of the Serbia–Republika Srpska Parliamentary Forum, held in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Stevandić added that while unnatural military alliances are being formed in many places to raise tensions and divide peoples, Srpska and Serbia are promoting policies of peace.

“On this occasion, I especially want to say that while elsewhere around us, for the purpose of raising tensions and sowing discord among peoples, unnatural and unprincipled military alliances are being formed and policies are promoted that remind us of very difficult times, we, as a response, offer the promotion of policies of peace and solutions. In this regard, the messages from today’s ceremonial opening, which I can proudly and respectfully convey, are precisely in that direction. Of course, the members of the Serbia–Republika Srpska Forum will make their own decisions, which will be delivered in writing after their session concludes. The message from Banja Luka is that we want to promote policies of agreement, cooperation, and resolving open issues through dialogue, not through the formation of military alliances or interference in the internal affairs of other countries,” Stevandić stated.

He reiterated that Christian Schmidt contributed the most to the tense situation in BiH.

“Schmidt is imposing laws instead of parliament, which has led to the abuse of the judiciary, with the aim of removing certain individuals. Srpska responded to this institutionally and with an offer of peace,” said Stevandić.

He emphasized that processes must not be directed by unnamed foreigners, but that BiH must return to the Dayton Peace Agreement, which stipulates that peoples and entities choose their representatives and institutions, not individuals who are imposed.

“Serbs are not promoting a ‘Greater Serbia’ policy but principles of equality, which we also wish for other peoples. At the same time, we are not showing weakness or renouncing defense but promoting the interests of peace and dialogue,” Stevandić concluded.
