Budimir at conference in Moscow: Prevention is the best response in the fight against extremism and radicalism

At the International Conference on Combating Extremism, held at the National Center of Russia in Moscow and organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, Željko Budimir, spoke about the experiences of Republika Srpska, which even after the Homeland War still feels the consequences of radical ideologies that, through certain organizations, threaten security in Republika Srpska, BiH, and the region.

In his address to the participants of the conference, which gathered representatives from 40 countries, Budimir emphasized that extremism, as a precursor to terrorism, remains one of the most serious threats to the safety of citizens, their lives, and property, thereby endangering both national and international security in the modern world.

“We shared these experiences and concluded that the radical ideas linked to World War II are still alive, as a result of both historical revisionism and inadequate punishment. Every tolerance of extremism has only strengthened such groups. That is why preventive action forms the core of the fight against extremism and radicalism, which the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with other institutions of Republika Srpska, is implementing,” Budimir told RTRS.
