Runić: We celebrate a holiday that symbolizes the centuries-old strength of the Serb people

The municipality of Drvar in the Federation of BiH will once again mark September 15 – the Day of Serb Unity, Freedom and the National Flag.

The ceremonial unfolding of the tricolor is scheduled for tomorrow at 11:55 a.m. on Freedom Square, in front of the Workers’ Hall.

Drvar mayor Dušica Runić told SRNA that this holiday symbolizes the indestructible unity, free-spiritedness, and centuries-old strength of the Serb people.

“The Day of Serb Unity, Freedom and the National Flag is not just a date on the calendar for us, but a powerful reminder of our history and our unbreakable bond with the motherland Serbia and with the entire Serb people,” Runić emphasized.

According to her, the holiday draws particular strength from the fact that it is marked on the very day of the breakthrough of the Salonika Front in 1918, when the Serb army, united in faith and love for the homeland, opened the path to freedom.

“The ceremony at 11:55 a.m., the symbolic ‘five to twelve,’ conveys the message that it is always high time for the Serb people, wherever they live, to gather under the same flag and the same goals – to preserve their identity and tradition,” Runić stressed.

She added that she is proud that Drvar, as the only municipality in the Federation of BiH, preserves this tradition.

“Serbia is our permanent support, partner, and friend in all major projects and in the everyday lives of our citizens,” Runić concluded.

The Day of Serb Unity, Freedom and the National Flag is a state holiday celebrated on September 15 in Serbia and Republika Srpska. Symbolically, it was established on the date marking the breakthrough of the Salonika Front and has been observed since 2020.
