Marking the Day of Serb Unity, Freedom and the National Flag is of special importance for the Serb people in the Federation of BiH, whose culture and tradition are being erased on a daily basis, said Goran Broćeta, delegate in the House of Peoples of the Federation of BiH Parliament.
Broćeta stressed that this is particularly evident in areas where Serbs have not yet achieved even the basic constitutional provisions of equality.
“We live in conditions where attempts are constantly being made to erase the culture and tradition of the Serb people, while imposing something that does not belong to us. That is why it is very important that in all places where Serbs live today, Serb tricolors are displayed and the Day of Serb Unity, Freedom and the National Flag is celebrated,” said Broćeta.
Drvar is the only municipality in the Federation of BiH that officially marks September 15 – the Day of Serb Unity, Freedom and the National Flag.
Broćeta called on those in other areas who are able to do the same, thereby further encouraging the awakening of national awareness.
“This holiday further awakens the sense of belonging, because when you live every day surrounded by foreign values, through silent assimilation you gradually lose your identity,” Broćeta emphasized.
