The Italian company PMP Industries, which has been operating in Republika Srpska for two decades, has built a factory in the Aleksandrovac Business Zone in Laktaši. By the end of the year, it plans to complete testing and launch production of parts for heavy machinery.
This company, with plants spanning from Italy to China and India, is starting production in Aleksandrovac of components such as high-pressure pumps and electric drives for heavy machines.
Branislav Banjac, general director of PMP Drive Systems (a subsidiary of PMP Industries), told Glas Srpske that the facility is technologically complex:
“In August we carried out the first equipment and plant tests, which were successful. We are now making minor corrections and moving into the second round of testing — trial production of parts. A formal opening is planned soon.”
He emphasized that PMP is a global leader in the production of gearboxes, hydraulic pumps, and other components for industrial machinery across agriculture, construction, and other sectors.
By the end of 2025, the Aleksandrovac site will begin casting production for heavy machinery parts, with plans for a second phase of machining and delivery to partners in Italy and beyond, and eventually full assembly in the third phase.
The group has been present in Republika Srpska since 2006, when it acquired and later fully privatized Jelšingrad in Gradiška. The value of the first investment phase in Laktaši is estimated at around 60 million KM.
According to Banjac, the goal is to build another 11,000-square-meter factory within five years for machining operations. Around 100 workers will be employed in the first phase, with more added as the project expands; currently, 30 workers are engaged in testing.
“All our output goes to international markets. Our factories in Asia serve eastern markets, while European plants mainly supply Europe and North America,” said Banjac.
Training and workforce development
Banjac highlighted cooperation with the Laktaši Secondary School Center, which will train mechanical and electrical technicians:
“Training skilled workers is a multi-year process, but it will ensure that we can achieve all planned phases of production,” he concluded.
