Kovačević: The referendum is a key tool for defending Republika Srpska

Serb delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Radovan Kovačević, stressed that the referendum is a key tool for defending Republika Srpska.

He pointed out that the scheduled referendum is the first opportunity, since the signing of the Dayton Agreement, for the Serb people and the citizens of Republika Srpska to clearly express their stance on the imposed decisions of unelected foreigners.

“That is why it is of historic importance that, as a people, we do not miss this opportunity. I understand that there are both justified and unjustified objections to the question defined by the National Assembly. I also understand that some are questioning the very point of holding such a referendum, since, as they claim, everyone already knows what our people think. But here the essence is what matters,” Kovačević, who also serves as the SNSD spokesperson, emphasized.

The essence of the question, he explained, is whether we demand that the will of our people be respected, or meekly accept the imposed will of foreigners.

“And these are unelected and illegitimate foreign overseers, whose impositions are contrary to international law, as well as the constitutions and laws of BiH and Republika Srpska,” Kovačević wrote on X.

He added that the essence also lies in the fact that the whole world will know exactly what our people think—when we express it clearly and unitedly in a democratic referendum.

“NO to Schmidt means YES to Srpska!” Kovačević declared.
