Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that on October 31 the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be thoroughly discussed at the UN Security Council session, during Russia’s presidency of the body.
“We will prepare in detail, and our partners will have to answer numerous uncomfortable questions,” Lavrov noted at the press conference after meeting with Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska.
He emphasized that Russia strongly condemns attempts to remove Serb leaders from power through fabricated cases.
“We strongly condemn the attempts to oust Serb leaders undesirable to the West through fabricated criminal proceedings. In particular, our interlocutor today, our friend, the legally elected and legitimate President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik,” Lavrov said.
Dodik expressed gratitude to the Russian Federation for its understanding.
“We are especially grateful because at the UN level, Russia positions itself as a defender of international law and consistently points out the need to respect the Dayton structure of the three peoples – Serbs, Croats, and Bosniaks – and that this balance must and should be preserved,” stressed the President of Republika Srpska.
Lavrov and Dodik met today in Moscow to discuss cooperation between Russia and Republika Srpska in all areas, as well as the current situation in BiH.
