Dodik for Srpska media from Russia: I informed the Russian side that Srpska is heading to a referendum

President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik said in an interview for Srpska media from Russia that today in Moscow he informed the Russian side that Srpska is going to a referendum, stressing that someone must clean up the mess created by Christian Schmidt.

“I call on people to come out to the referendum and to show that it is the will of the people,” Dodik said.

He noted that the Russian side was interested in the current situation and in the direction to move forward, confirming commitment to international law.

“We claim that Dayton has failed, that it was destroyed by those who were supposed to protect it. That is our primary stance. We understood that the Russians believe there should be another attempt, which implies a series of activities. Someone must clean up the mess Schmidt has made. A legal framework was created to give Bosniaks the ability to judge anyone, and they dared to judge the president of Republika Srpska, which is a party to the Dayton Agreement. It is a long-planned scheme,” Dodik emphasized.

He pointed out that Russia has always been ready to listen on the multilateral level, standing on the side of international law and its respect.

After meetings with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the Russian President’s aide Yuri Ushakov, Dodik underlined that such encounters are continuous, and that bilateral relations are at the highest level of understanding.

Commenting on Christian Schmidt’s illegal activities, Dodik recalled:
“Christian Schmidt suspended the Constitution for a day so that Nikšić and his government could be appointed. Federal Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić and his government are illegal, and he should not be surprised if the Government of Srpska refuses to cooperate with him.”

Responding to the Sarajevo “Troika’s” appeal on the legitimacy of the new government of Republika Srpska, Dodik said that “servants will not miss an opportunity to make a foolish move.”

“Nothing surprises me, but if Nikšić, who could be a solid interlocutor, is the first to announce such a thing, then he should not be surprised if the Government of Republika Srpska refuses to cooperate with him, because they are illegal,” Dodik stated.

He added that there will be more surprises when it comes to Srpska’s friends on the international stage.

Dodik emphasized that Serbs are not tainted, contrary to what the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers, Elmedin Konaković, claims, calling him “a serious liar.”

“The end comes after the game, and the game has just begun. When the final whistle blows, some will hear ringing in their ears, and some will smile. I believe we are at the beginning of a smile,” Dodik concluded.
