President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik said that the referendum is essential for Republika Srpska because it must reject foreign occupation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Dodik stated that foreigners in BiH hold both political and military power, and that when Christian Schmidt began restricting property rights, Republika Srpska responded that such measures were unacceptable. According to him, this is why there was an attempt to eliminate the political leadership of Srpska in order to impose those decisions.
“We are in an occupied zone. For 30 years, foreigners have occupied us, exercising political and military authority here, backed by political support from major international centers. The time has come for that to end. But not just like that. If they want us to remain in BiH, they will have to abolish everything that Christian Schmidt has imposed, because he has restricted our right to dispose of our property, and that is the key problem,” Dodik told RT Balkan.
He stressed that the issue is simple: “Those who want to understand will understand, and for those who don’t, it’s pointless to explain.”
