Stevandić: Srpska will base its actions on the referendum

Nenad Stevandić, President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, commenting on the decision of the Central Election Commission regarding early elections, stated that Srpska will base its actions on the referendum scheduled for October 25.

Stevandić said it is evident that the decision was made by outvoting, and even those who adopted it are not confident in its validity.

“When we hold discussions among institutions in Republika Srpska, we will take an official position. Until then, we stand by the conclusions of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska. Ultimately, we will base our actions on the referendum we scheduled for October 25,” Stevandić emphasized.

The Central Election Commission decided that early elections for the president of Republika Srpska will be held on November 23.

Republika Srpska, in the conclusions adopted by the National Assembly on August 22, rejected the possibility of holding early elections for the president of Republika Srpska and called on all authorities of Srpska and local government units not to undertake any actions related to their implementation.

At that session, the National Assembly of Republika Srpska adopted a decision to call a referendum regarding the ruling of the unconstitutional Court of BiH against President Milorad Dodik and the decision of the Central Election Commission of BiH to terminate his mandate, setting October 25 as the date for the referendum.

The referendum question reads: “Do you accept the decisions of the unelected foreigner Christian Schmidt and the rulings of the unconstitutional Court of BiH against the president of Republika Srpska, as well as the decision of the CEC to revoke the mandate of the president of Srpska, Milorad Dodik?”
