Minić: We should not take part in the elections because they are not legal

“My comment on today’s decision of the Central Election Commission is that this is just the continuation of the story I didn’t have the chance to elaborate on yesterday, and I thought there was no need. If someone asks me whether I am a legal nominee for prime minister, but never asks whether Christian Schmidt is legal, and whether we should each time explain how someone who calls himself the high representative was appointed — is it clear to everyone that when that so-called high representative suspends the Constitution of the Federation of BiH, nobody says a word? What message does that send? It sends the message that they are in agreement with him, that they have no problem with it,” said Savo Minić, candidate for prime minister of Republika Srpska.

“That is the message that the Criminal Code of BiH will be amended without any opposition from the other side. Why? Because we are the ones being tried. The message is that they will expand the definition of a criminal act, that they will include preparation, and eventually say that in any way the constitutional order is being undermined,” Minić added.

He stressed that this is the result of all these activities, now culminating with the Central Election Commission scheduling extraordinary elections.

“My personal position, and the position of the SNSD, is that we should not take part in those elections, because they are not legal. They are not legal — they are the product of everything that has happened so far. Those who want to participate can do so, but in the end the public and the people in Republika Srpska will see whether there are those who want, with two or three thousand votes, to be someone who will merely be called president of Republika Srpska in such a moment and in such a situation. I think we are still not aware, unfortunately, of the activities being carried out, prepared, and directed against us. This is a highly calculated project, which only continues with the scheduling of these elections. There is no longer any room for doubt,” Minić stated.

He added that it is time to take a clear stand.

“I cannot help but wonder why the Government of Republika Srpska, which is supposed to be formed on Tuesday, is not composed of all political parties. Why not, if you say someone is not good, or not doing their job properly — here’s the opportunity. One year, nothing epochal can be done in a year, but you will be part of it, and then you’ll see whether what you have been claiming about nepotism or dishonesty in some ministry is true. You’ll have the chance to be part of it. That’s my personal view,” Minić said.

“And from the general perspective, is it possible — or should I say impossible — that we cannot, even once, come to our senses, achieve enough unity, to say: this is a Government of Republika Srpska composed of all representatives of the political parties that form the parliamentary majority? To show unity just once. But since we didn’t have that chance, it is certain that things like this will continue to happen to us, more easily and more often, and that the same story will just go on,” Minić emphasized.
