Trebinje celebrates wine and honey

The traditional Wine and Honey Fair, which marks the beginning of the Transfiguration festivities, opened its stands to numerous visitors for the 18th time this year, symbolically celebrating its coming of age.

The fair was officially opened by the mayor of Trebinje, Mirko Ćurić, who wished exhibitors and visitors success and thanked them for building this beautiful story together for 18 years, to the pride of everyone in the city.

Ćurić emphasized that this event marks the start of the most festive days in Trebinje, when the city and the Cathedral celebrate their patron feast — the Holy Transfiguration of the Lord.

“Wine and honey from Trebinje are brands of this region. For decades, hardworking people have been creating top-quality wine and honey whose excellence is beyond doubt,” Ćurić stated.

Director of the Agrarian Fund, Veselin Dutina, announced that the fair hosted 27 exhibitors and 20 winemakers.

“This year we also have participants from Serbia and Montenegro, which shows the fair is beginning to take on an international character,” Dutina added.

The Transfiguration festivities continued with the opening of the exhibition “Songs of the Sun in the Colors of Milena” at the Museum of Herzegovina, featuring works from the collection of the Milena Pavlović Barili Gallery in Požarevac.

The festive evening service was held in the Cathedral of the Holy Transfiguration of the Lord.
