Dodik: I expect nothing from the Constitutional court, these are legal steps to reach the European court

The president of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, stated that he has no expectations from the Constitutional Court of BiH and that all legal measures must be used in order to reach the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, following the ruling issued by the Court of BiH.

Dodik pointed out that they have found at least 40 examples of European Court practice that contradict what is happening in BiH. He emphasized that the Constitutional Court of BiH itself created all these “blunders,” but it was said that all legal steps in a country must be used to be able to go to the European Court.

  • That is why we go to the Constitutional Court, not with the expectation that it will do something; I have no such expectations – Dodik told ATV.

He stated that he entrusted lawyers and attorneys to handle the matter, authorizing them to do everything they think necessary, explaining that the ultimate goal is to reach a decision by the European Court of Human Rights.

Although I do not trust that institution either – Dodik added.

He noted that Muslims have used this approach to delay someone for two years, and asked what happens if, in two or three years, the European Court issues a decision nullifying the ruling and states that Milorad Dodik has the right to claim compensation.

  • But they think that in these two years they can do whatever they want; that is the whole point. In this function are Schmidt, the courts, the prosecutor’s offices, and the Constitutional Court. I have no doubts – Dodik concluded.

The Appellate Department of the Court of BiH confirmed on 1 August the first-instance verdict against the president of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, sentencing him to one year in prison and a six-year ban on political activity “for failing to comply with the decisions of Christian Schmidt.”

Dodik: enemies of the Serbs have traditionally tried to destabilize Republika Srpska and Serbia

Dodik stated that the enemies of the Serb people have traditionally tried to destabilize Republika Srpska and Serbia, making them an easy target for their long-standing ambitions in this region.

After today’s meeting with the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, during which they discussed bilateral relations and the situation on both sides of the Drina, Dodik said this is part of an overall scenario of attacks on Serb territories and the Serb people.

He added that Vučić believes geopolitical relations are very complex, that the EU has its own agendas in this region, and that it appears that everything done has been against the Serb people and their national and state interests.

  • I told him that the EU is playing a dishonest, very bad role. It is very deceitful. This is most clearly seen in the statements of their ambassador in Sarajevo, who says that the rule of law allows one individual to pass a law while the court, which is again unlawfully established, can issue a decision that must be respected – Dodik said.

Dodik noted that Republika Srpska has done certain things because it had to, and because its representatives believe the consequences could have been even worse and more destabilizing for the situation in BiH and Republika Srpska.

He recalled that today they agreed that a joint session of the governments of Republika Srpska and Serbia, and the council for cooperation between Republika Srpska and Serbia, will be held in Belgrade on 12 September.
