The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Serbia, Aleksandar Bočan-Kharchenko, stated that the verdict of the BiH Court against the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, has nothing to do with law and was made to remove Dodik from the political scene, with the ultimate goal of stripping Republika Srpska of its powers and status.
Bočan-Kharchenko emphasized that Dodik has been protecting the entity’s status and the powers of Republika Srpska for decades, ensuring its survival within BiH.
The Russian ambassador pointed out that in a centralized BiH, the Serb people would not have the possibility to survive.
He added that Moscow will continue relevant activities on the international level, and that the support of Belgrade is of crucial importance in these circumstances.
“The link between Serbia and Republika Srpska is natural,” said Bočan-Kharchenko, noting that the West seeks to destroy it, recognizing that it is the most important support for Republika Srpska.
“Moscow’s stance completely aligns with Belgrade’s stance. This is a fabricated decision with no basis in law,” Bočan-Kharchenko said in an interview with “Politika,” responding to the question of whether Belgrade can still rely on Moscow’s support regarding key national challenges, particularly in relation to Kosovo and Metohija and Republika Srpska.
He added that, unfortunately, after 30 years, a high level of reconciliation and integration within BiH has not been achieved.
“Conflict must be avoided, and there are no other options except for a Dayton BiH, because there is talk of the centralization of Bosnia, but in such a country, the Serb people, as a minority, would neither have the right to vote nor the means for survival,” Bočan-Kharchenko noted.
He stated that, regarding Kosovo and Metohija, Priština continues and will continue to pressure Serbs, especially in the north, and constantly creates new crisis hotspots.
Bočan-Kharchenko emphasized that Moscow will use all available means to support Serbia.
“We will use all opportunities arising from Russia’s membership in the UN Security Council. After all, it is evident that the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština under the EU’s auspices leads to nothing,” concluded Bočan-Kharchenko.
