On the third day of the 17th Theater Days in Mrkonjić Grad, the actors of the Student Theater of Banja Luka performed the play “Sing, Brother” on the stage of the Cultural Center “Petar Kočić”. This play is based on the text of Stevan Koprivica and directed by Aleksandar Pejaković.
The roles are played by Natalija Medojević, Milica Petković, and Helena Stević.
On the fourth day of the festival, the play “Canary Soup” by the Trstenik Theater from Trstenik, Serbia, based on the text by Miloš Radović and directed by Tijana Matić and Andrej Jovanović, will be performed.
Actress Milica Petković emphasized that it is a great honor for her to perform in her hometown, but she also admitted to feeling a bit nervous.
In the play, she plays the character of Lepava, a folk singer, and she pointed out that she enjoys comedic roles and identifies with them.
Director Aleksandar Pejaković said that the idea to remake the play “Sing, Brother” in a female version came thanks to a suggestion from the actor Andrija Milošević, a friend of the Student Theater.
“We are glad that we managed to create the play in a relatively short period of two months, and we are extremely grateful to him and Professor Stevan Koprivica, who gave us the author rights to continue one of the most-watched plays in Serbia at the Student Theater,” said Pejaković.
The Minister of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska, Željka Stojičić, assessed that Mrkonjić Grad has always been known for significant cultural events, after attending the play “Sing, Brother” by the Student Theater of Banja Luka, directed by Aleksandar Pejaković, as part of the Theater Days in the municipality.
Stojičić added that this year, Theater Days are held within the “Mrkonjić Summer” festival, and she believes that the audience is satisfied with what they saw during the three festival evenings.
