Mass protests announced by Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers, Elmedin Konaković—should the courts not rule as he wishes against Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik—would represent a serious threat to public security, said Slobodan Župljanin, Dean of the Faculty of Security and Protection in Banja Luka, in a statement to SRNA.
Župljanin emphasized that Konaković’s move is an attempt to divert attention from his own problems.
“The ideas and initiatives coming from Konaković lack both political and moral credibility, as well as any real capacity. This is a blatant violation of the principle of judicial independence and a clear attempt to apply pressure. His motive is simple—to distract from the problems he is facing, including alleged ties to a drug cartel,” said Župljanin.
He added that Konaković is trying to shift the focus elsewhere but lacks the capacity to organize or mobilize a significant number of people.
“If such gatherings were to occur, they would certainly undermine public security, as it would be natural for counter-protests to be organized in response. That would inevitably escalate tensions,” Župljanin concluded.
