Ahead of their first home match of the season, scheduled for Saturday at 5 PM against Široki Brijeg, Rudar Prijedor’s squad will be reinforced by three newly eligible players.
Due to incomplete paperwork, several signings were unavailable for the opening match against Borac, but that issue is now being resolved.
“The paperwork has been finalized for Đuro Đekić, Andres Mohedano, and Branislav Kocić, and they will be in contention for Saturday’s match at our stadium. A few other players are still waiting on work permits, but we expect to receive the necessary documentation for them soon,” said Rudar Prijedor director Milan Despotović.
In recent days, intense work has been underway to spruce up the stadium in all areas, including the final stage of floodlight installation.
“We’re currently installing lighting fixtures on the floodlight towers, which means the project is nearing completion. When we began the floodlight installation, we promised that the City Stadium in Prijedor would be illuminated no later than early September. Now we expect that to happen even sooner. We’re also awaiting the arrival of a new scoreboard in the coming days. At the same time, we’re renovating the locker rooms, which we’ll upgrade further during the international break. We’ve also refreshed the seating in the stands — in short, we’re ‘polishing’ the stadium to look as presentable as possible for Saturday’s match against Široki Brijeg,” added Despotović.
Despite a heavy 6–0 away defeat to Borac in the season opener, team morale remains intact.
“That result shows we must unite even more and work to bring the team to the desired competitive level. We all know we started preseason late, brought in many new players, and appointed a new head coach — everything still needs to be integrated. I believe things will fall into place soon, and we’ll become competitive against most Premier League teams,” Despotović stated.
Although the club signed 20 new players during the summer break, Rudar is still exploring additional reinforcements.
“We’re looking for a forward who can make a difference in front of goal, as well as an attacking midfielder. We expect them to arrive soon, which would essentially wrap up our transfer window,” Despotović concluded.
