The 68th Festival of Festivals, a regional showcase of the best amateur theaters, concluded in Trebinje with the awards ceremony. The winner of this year’s edition was the Trebinje City Theatre with the play Poor Little Hamsters, which, in addition to the main prize, earned three more Golden Masks.
Directed by Željko Milošević, Poor Little Hamsters, based on a half-century-old text by Gordan Mihić, was given a new life on stage.
It was clear that everyone involved in the production — from the director and actors to the composer — gave their best, making the awards a natural outcome.
“This is the third victory for the City Theatre at this festival, and I’m truly pleased by that,” said Željko Milošević, director of the winning play.
The Trebinje production also received Golden Masks for best direction, best leading male role, and original music.
The audience jury award for best play went to Hasanaginica, performed by the theater from Petrovac na Mlavi.
The award for best female role was shared between two lead actresses.
Over the course of seven festival nights, the stage of the Cultural Center hosted amateur theater ensembles from Serbia, Croatia, North Macedonia, and Montenegro.
