Tourists visit Šipovo throughout the year

Mayor of Šipovo Milan Kovač stated this evening that over the past seven years, the municipality has fully implemented its tourism development project and has become one of the leading tourist destinations in Republika Srpska.

“People come to Šipovo throughout the year, eager to enjoy our natural beauty, gastronomic offerings, and other available attractions,” said Kovač, speaking at the final event of the “Days of Šipovo” festival on the Square of Serbian Patriarch Pavle.

Director of the Šipovo Tourist Organization, Biljana Grozdić, said that this year’s festival was one of the best among the 16 held so far and also one of the most attended.

As part of “Days of Šipovo,” numerous program activities were held, including the traditional “Pita Festival,” highlighting the region’s reputation for preparing traditional pies.

In the pie-making competition, the fastest and most skilled contestant was 13-year-old Anja Roljić from Oćuna near Mrkonjić Grad.

Also held was the folklore festival “Šipovo Through Dance and Song,” which gathered 18 cultural and artistic societies.

Nikola Grahovac, president of the “Nikola Kokošar” Folk Dance and Song Ensemble from Šipovo, said this was the largest festival so far, bringing together folklore groups from across Republika Srpska.

The “Days of Šipovo” festival, which began on July 19, also featured tournaments in chess, volleyball, basketball, futsal, as well as the “Pliva Regatta” and a jeep rally.
