Duško Šobat unveils new song “Idemo” and steps out of his comfort zone

Musician and composer Duško Šobat, known primarily as an instrumentalist, has taken a bold step outside his comfort zone. With his band, he released a music video for the new song “Idemo”, marking a fresh chapter in his career.

“About a year ago, the idea for this song came to life. We worked on it gradually, and I really liked it. The inspiration hit me so strongly that I ended up writing 10 to 15 songs over the past year,” said Šobat.

While Šobat is an accomplished instrumentalist, it was Mladen Bojić, the band’s bassist and also a skilled vocalist, who performed the lead vocals on this track. Bojić also handled the production, mixing, and played several instruments on the recording. The song has already climbed the regional charts, and the video was shot in Banja Luka.

“I reached out to Tajana Dedić, who is young, creative, and talented in both video and photography. I played her the song during a coffee meeting, and she instantly came up with the concept—six characters, and I’m the seventh. The video featured actors, dancers, and I even appeared in it myself! Everything happened spontaneously; we didn’t rehearse—it all just clicked,” Šobat shared.

Beyond Instrumentals

Šobat has already released two instrumental albums—“Raskoš” and “Radost”—with two more in the pipeline. Although he acknowledges that instrumental music has a harder time reaching wider audiences, he insists it carries a deeper message conveyed solely through melody.

Now exploring lyrical songwriting, Šobat strives to avoid sentimentality in his lyrics. He says the new album will bring freshness to his discography:

“My music is a blend of many styles, and I find it boring to record only one genre. I don’t think of music that way. This latest track leans toward funk-pop, but there will be songs that are rock, blues, and more. If I manage to complete the album, it’ll definitely be a colorful one,” he explained.

Looking ahead, Šobat also plans to sing in one of the upcoming tracks. He believes in the power of uplifting tones and positive lyrics to spread good vibes—something clearly reflected in “Idemo”.
