For the eighteenth time, the Tourist Organization of Prijedor, under the patronage of the city, is organizing the ethno exhibition “Golden Hands of Potkozarje”, aimed at bringing together creators of traditional handicrafts who preserve the cultural identity of this region.
Eleven associations, fifteen individual artisans, and two workshops presented their handmade items and cultural heritage. Among them is the cultural and artistic society “Brojanica.”
“These are all our handmade creations made within the KUD. Some of our products are sold, others go to charity. We also produce traditional costumes. Every contribution and act of support is welcome,” said Željko Bukvečić, president of KUD “Brojanica.”
The exhibition is both competitive and commercial in nature. Visitors will have the opportunity to vote for the best-decorated stand, and a fashion show of traditional costumes with modern elements will also be held. In addition, a humanitarian campaign is organized.
“This year, we continue with a humanitarian spirit. We are organizing a charity drive for the Kostadinović family from Novi Grad, a family of seven with two boys suffering from muscular dystrophy. Through this, we want to show our support and affirm that the city of Prijedor has a big heart,” said Dijana Armanda, director of the Tourist Organization of Prijedor.
City officials emphasized the importance of preserving tradition.
“By preserving our traditions, we preserve our identity—that is our DNA,” stated Nenad Mejakić, Deputy Mayor of Prijedor.
Donations for the Kostadinović family—specifically for Stefan and Darijo, who are battling severe muscular dystrophy—are being collected through the Nikola Baroš Foundation. Every donor will receive a symbolic gift.
The “Golden Hands of Potkozarje” exhibition is part of this year’s “Prijedor Summer” program.
