Vidovdan Literary ncounters 2025 held in Trebinje

The “Vidovdan Literary Encounters 2025” were held in Trebinje, this year dedicated to the poetic voice of Kosovo and Metohija.

The meetings with writers from the southern Serb province were organized by the Trebinje branch of the Association of Writers of Republika Srpska and the City of Trebinje.

The “Vidovdan Literary Encounters” nurture the literary and spiritual creativity of the Serb people, and this time they served as a bridge between the two Gračanicas—as two testimonies to the perseverance of the same people in faith, culture, and poetic expression. This was affirmed by renowned writers from the southern Serb province—Novica Sovrlić, Dragomir Kostić, and Srećko Simić—during their visit to the Herzegovinian Gračanica.

“That spiritual vertical and connection between Kosovo and Metohija and Republika Srpska is, for us, a sacred word—something unquestionable. It is an axiom. Love for Republika Srpska and, in turn, Republika Srpska’s love for Kosovo and Metohija comes before, after, and beyond everything,” said Novica Sovrlić, president of the Association of Writers of Kosovo and Metohija.

The verses of poets from Kosovo and Metohija, woven with love for their homeland and tradition, were heard during the poetry evening, joined by poets from Herzegovina. The gathering created new connections and poetic inspiration.

“We exchange ideas about each other’s work, and by seeing what others are doing, we can adopt something beautiful,” said poet Srećko Simić from Kosovo and Metohija.

As part of the third “Vidovdan Literary Encounters,” supported by the City of Trebinje, a memorandum of literary cooperation was signed between the Association of Writers of Kosovo and Metohija and the Trebinje branch of the Association of Writers of Republika Srpska.
