The manifestation “Princip Days in East New Sarajevo” officially began with the opening of the seventh session of the “White Wolf” art colony, which once again brings together 11 artists from Republika Srpska and the wider region.
Miloš Popović, the selector of the art colony, told reporters that this year as well, the organizers aim to create a generational dialogue—bringing in already established artists from Serbia, as well as young artists from East Sarajevo who have much to learn.
“Each year, we emphasize young artists from our city, offering them a platform for recognition and affirmation,” Popović said.
He explained that the core idea of the colony is to connect artists of different generations and styles through informal yet deep exchanges of knowledge, experience, and creative sensitivity.
Participants are not limited by theme or subject matter, although there is a noticeable recurring interest in the region’s historical figures, landscapes, and architecture.
“The standard techniques are acrylic and oil on canvas. While there are no thematic restrictions, the surrounding environment often sparks visual inspiration,” Popović noted.
The art colony will be held at two locations—the gallery space of the East New Sarajevo Cultural Center and the site at Tvrdimići.
“Through its vision and consistent execution, White Wolf has become much more than an art colony—it is a space where art is born in silence, shared through dialogue, and remains as a lasting mark on the cultural life of East New Sarajevo,” said Popović.
He added that around 60 works from previous colonies are now part of the Center’s collection, used in various exhibitions to represent the Cultural Center, its work, and the municipality of East New Sarajevo.
The presentation of the works created during this year’s White Wolf colony is scheduled for Saturday at 8:00 p.m. at the Cultural Center.
Academic painter from Višegrad, Slavko Tuševljak, who is participating in the colony for the fourth time, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the organizers.
“The art colony is once again excellently organized, the group of participants is wonderful, and I believe we will once again create a number of high-quality works,” Tuševljak told reporters.
To date, over 40 artists from BiH and the region have taken part in the colony.
The colony brings together academic painters, professors, teaching assistants at art schools and academies, as well as established professional artists.
Over the past two years, the “Golden Palette” award has also been introduced within the colony, serving as recognition for exceptional contribution and participation. This award symbolically reinforces the values of community, continuity, and artistic excellence that the colony upholds.
The White Wolf art colony is traditionally organized by the Cultural Center with the support and patronage of the Municipality of East New Sarajevo.
As part of the multi-day manifestation “Princip Days,” which runs through Saturday, June 28, a rich cultural program is planned.
