The United Kingdom, which has supported Sarajevo’s policies for decades, now seems to want to “collect” on that support—by transferring migrants from London to Sarajevo. If this turns out to be the outcome of the visit to London by BiH Presidency members Denis Bećirović and Željko Komšić, then security in Bosnia and Herzegovina is at risk. Republika Srpska Prime Minister Radovan Višković believes that Bećirović and Komšić are not acting in the interest of BiH citizens.
Speaking on the television program Telering, Višković warned that accepting migrants would pose a security risk and that Republika Srpska will not participate in any agreements concerning the acceptance of migrants.
“The position of Republika Srpska is clear, and it is not something I’m saying just tonight—it has been consistent. Since the beginning of the migrant crisis, Republika Srpska has held a more than clear stance. We do not want any camps in Republika Srpska. We do not want to establish reception centers for migrants here because that could represent more than just a security threat to this area,” the prime minister stated.
