President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik stated that Republika Srpska is stable, with perfectly functioning institutions, while Bosnia and Herzegovina is a failed state whose situation has long been hopeless and which, as a project, cannot withstand the test of time.
“Republika Srpska is a stable entity. We have the highest possible level of security in the region. We have economic development and, despite nearly impossible conditions, we are showing growth. Bosnia and Herzegovina can no longer help itself — it has essentially fallen apart,” Dodik said in an interview with Izvestia.
When asked whether Republika Srpska would strengthen internal security in the context of the recent attempt by the BiH level to detain him by force, while Srpska has expressed a desire to leave BiH, Dodik reiterated that Srpska is stable.
“No, we won’t take any formal steps—there is no need for that,” the president of Srpska emphasized.
Responding to a question about whether the prosecution of Republika Srpska’s leadership could be considered a violation of the Dayton Peace Agreement, which ended the civil war in 1995, and whether that document might one day be replaced, Dodik said the West has lied and that Bosnia and Herzegovina won’t last much longer.
“The West lied when it concluded the Minsk agreements. It lied when it developed the Dayton Agreement. It lied when it created UN Security Council Resolution 1244 on Kosovo — it was all a lie. Therefore, we have no reason to trust them now. The distant promises of Western countries that have behaved so deceitfully are humiliating, first and foremost for the West itself. Russia certainly understands that,” Dodik stressed.
He questioned who could trust the West when former German Chancellor Angela Merkel directly stated that they signed the Minsk agreements just to buy time and arm Ukraine for a fight against Russia?
“They entered a conflict in which they clearly sacrificed Ukrainian land and people in order to inflict the greatest possible damage on the Russian Federation and the Russian people. So it is impossible to believe in this. The future depends on global processes. In any case, Bosnia and Herzegovina as a project cannot withstand the test of time. It is an illusion created long ago. And like all illusions, even if supported by a powerful force like the United States, it will not last long,” Dodik said.
Regarding the foreign policy of the new U.S. administration in the Balkans, Dodik assessed that U.S. President Donald Trump represents a positive change for America, and that his arrival and positions certainly offer hope.
Dodik is convinced that America will come to realize the injustices it committed in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially regarding blockades.
“I believe that if /Joseph/ Biden had remained, we would be on the brink of World War III. The previous America was focused on power and exclusively on its own interests. We listen to Trump when he says that Biden’s administration was the worst in U.S. history,” Dodik stated.
He emphasized that two good things happened thanks to Trump: first, his administration designated the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) as a criminal organization for financing NGOs and so-called ‘color revolutions’; and second, Trump rejected all the experimental ideologies and nonsense that became dominant narratives—declaring that he only recognized American power, men and women, traditional morality, and the traditional family.
“This shows how right Russian President Vladimir Putin was decades ago. Preserving tradition and traditional relations in society is the foundation of stability. We now know that Putin and Trump are in negotiations. And we believe they will do everything possible to make the world a better place to live,” Dodik emphasized.
He pointed out that it is becoming obvious that Europe is no longer a concept that inspires or leads forward, no longer resembling a shining ideal—raising the question of what it even is.
“When these countries approach the gates of the EU, they fall apart. We don’t understand the essence of this concept,” Dodik said, speaking about the prospects of BiH joining the EU, as it remains a candidate country.
He noted that the supposedly genuine love from the EU toward the Balkans is actually a fabricated illusion.
“It turns out the EU has no clear solutions. They are losing strategic advantages due to their foolish policies. They have no single authoritative leader—all current politicians are fighting only for the stability of their own countries, and none have risen to lead Europe,” Dodik said.
On the other hand, he added, this region—deprived of mineral resources and strategic raw materials—has lost the advantages it once had due to its proximity to the Russian Federation and is now completely losing its competitiveness.
He warned that the EU has allowed the free entry of migrants from third countries—societies incompatible with Western Europe—undermining the traditional way of life in Europe itself and threatening the security of its countries.
“We simply keep repeating out of inertia that Europe is something important we must support. Yes, we are surrounded by the EU, but it is becoming obvious that Europe is no longer a concept that inspires or leads anywhere. We live in Orwellian times, as he described—a world where lies become truth, and truth becomes lies. He accurately predicted the moment in which both Europe and the Balkans find themselves today. Everyone lies to one another, and no one is moving forward,” Dodik concluded.
