President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik met with the Governor of Saint Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, and used the occasion to express gratitude for Russia’s continuous support to Republika Srpska.
“We are a small community, but we deeply appreciate your persistence in maintaining our partnership. We are truly under pressure—virtually the entire leadership of Republika Srpska is being persecuted by foreign actors in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the West, they are trying to create hysteria about Russians and Russia. We’re often told that our problem is being pro-Russian. I tell them they’re mistaken—we’re not pro-Russian, we are Russian people,” Dodik said.
He pointed out that Russia recognizes the fact that Republika Srpska is withstanding enormous pressure within BiH due to its refusal to impose sanctions on Russia.
“You’ve noticed that our entire leadership is under American sanctions. The circumstances are difficult and complex, but we persevere. Our friendship with you gives us strength and willpower,” Dodik emphasized.
He reiterated that there is no High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina and thanked Russia for understanding and presenting this view properly in the UN Security Council.
Dodik noted that this is his third visit to Russia this year and that he plans to return again.
Governor of Saint Petersburg Alexander Beglov stated during the meeting that relations between Srpska and Russia are based on strong friendship and trust, and that dialogue with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, continues.
