Dodik: I submitted an initiative to the National Assembly of Republika Srpska to review the issue of migrants in Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina

Yesterday, I submitted to the National Assembly of Republika Srpska an informational document and initiative to review the issue of migrants in Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, said the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, in a statement for RTRS.

“This includes an overview of past migration flows, particularly of migrants coming from third countries, especially in light of announcements from the government of the United Kingdom and some EU countries. Republika Srpska must act preventively and adopt certain measures,” Dodik emphasized.

He highlighted that he had proposed a series of conclusions, including that no decisions or agreements with governments of third countries—particularly EU member states—should be accepted regarding the possibility of transporting or deporting alleged migrants here who would receive some form of treatment and attention.

“Given that this involves individuals who were denied asylum or, if granted, have committed criminal offenses in those countries, they would all be included in that package. The idea that more than 50,000 migrants could be placed in Bosnia and Herzegovina is unacceptable, as it jeopardizes our daily lives and security,” Dodik stressed.

He warned of the significant risk that these individuals could connect with already present radical groups, Wahhabis, and others operating here, including those who have returned from the Syrian battlefield.

“Even the great Western powers failed to properly identify security-risk individuals at that time—they were accepting them without any checks, and now they want to send those same dangerous individuals to us, which would further destabilize the situation here. That is why it is crucial for the National Assembly of Republika Srpska to consider this issue and adopt firm conclusions, clearly expressing Republika Srpska’s position. That is why I submitted this information, which contains important data on the matter. The topic is significant—I’m not asking for a special session, but that this issue be included as a top item on the agenda of a regular session,” Dodik concluded.
