A hearing will be held today before the Appellate Panel of the unconstitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the second-instance proceedings against the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and the acting director of the Official Gazette of Srpska, Miloš Lukić.
The first-instance verdict was delivered on February 26. Dodik was found guilty of failing to comply with the decisions of Christian Schmidt and sentenced to one year in prison, along with a six-year ban on performing duties as President of Republika Srpska. Lukić was acquitted.
Following the explanation of the appeal, the defense will request the annulment of the first-instance verdict and either a ruling of acquittal or the scheduling of a new trial, said Goran Bubić, President Dodik’s lawyer.
President Milorad Dodik stated for RTS that the case is politically motivated, citing as evidence the fact that Interpol rejected the request to issue a warrant for his arrest.
He emphasized that the proceedings are not just directed against him personally but are an attack on Republika Srpska as a whole, yet he remains undeterred.
“This is all politically staged. That’s exactly why it gives me new strength and motivates me to continue fighting against injustice,” Dodik added.
