Children’s Theatre of Republika Srpska included in the program of two prestigious festivals in Romania

The Children’s Theatre of Republika Srpska is participating in the program of two prestigious festivals in Romania with the play Once Upon a Time There Was a Lion.

After performing at the International Children’s Theatre Festival Arlechino – Caravan of Stories in Brașov, the ensemble is set to perform in the competition program of the International Festival Puck, held in the city of Cluj-Napoca.

The ensemble performs Once Upon a Time There Was a Lion abroad in the language of the host country, aiming to promote the work of Duško Radović to children across Europe. Following performances in Polish, Turkish, and Macedonian, their lion has now learned Romanian.

“Yes, I heard and saw from the audience’s reactions that they recognized we were speaking their language. The impressions are excellent,” said actress Svjetlana Andrić.

“By performing in Romanian, we’ve brought ourselves closer to this nation, and the people have recognized our art in such a way that the applause and impressions I carry with me now are a source of absolute pride and confirmation that the art of Republika Srpska is our strongest argument when speaking to the world about our greatness,” said Ljiljana Labović, Director of the Children’s Theatre of Republika Srpska.

The ensemble was visited in Brașov by the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Romania, Milorad Živković.

“I hope this will lead to more frequent and broader meetings in more cities, both in Republika Srpska and in Romania,” said Živković.

Tomorrow, the ensemble will perform at the Puck International Festival in Cluj-Napoca.

“I’m glad they are here for the anniversary edition of our festival. I hope this marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration between our theatres,” said Mihaela Soloceanu, Director of the Arlechino Children’s Theatre in Romania.

The 10th Arlechino – Caravan of Stories Festival, organized by the Arlechino Children’s Theatre from Brașov, is primarily focused on international cooperation. Last year, the Romanian theatre performed at the International Children’s Theatre Festival in Banja Luka.
