The book “Prijedor Primer – an Opportunity for a Lyric” by authors Mirjana Bulatović and Zoran Stanić was promoted at the Prijedor Theater, organized by the “Nikola Baroš” Foundation.
“It’s interesting — on my way back home to Belgrade, we were traveling in a van, five writers together. I was sitting in the back with a colleague, and although we hadn’t seen each other in a long time and it was a chance to catch up, I had the urge to write. By the time I reached Belgrade, I had three poems, and then over the next three days, I wrote nine more each day, as if Nikola himself was guiding me from above,” shared poet Mirjana Bulatović.
The primer contains 30 prose texts and 30 poems, one for each letter of the Cyrillic alphabet.
“This completes a kind of Prijedor trilogy which now includes a primer of basic concepts, a coloring book, and poetry. The story can certainly grow further, but we don’t force anything — we only create when inspired from the heart and when we know it will bring joy to children and their parents,” said Zoran Stanić.
The illustrations were created by young painter Nataša Bubalo.
President of the “Nikola Baroš” Foundation, Zoran Baroš, said that the aim is to bring additional joy to children and gift them something beautiful in written form and beyond.
In the coming period, the Foundation will complete the “Outdoor Classroom” project, which will be built in the yard of the Dositej Obradović Elementary School, once attended by Nikola Baroš, the boy after whom the Foundation was named.
