Župljanin: Republika Srpska and Dodik – a significant factor in international security structures

Dean of the Faculty of Security and Protection in Banja Luka, Slobodan Župljanin, stated that Republika Srpska and its president, Milorad Dodik, are recognized as an important factor within international security structures, as confirmed by Dodik’s participation in the International Conference of High Representatives for Security Issues in Moscow.

Župljanin expressed support for Dodik’s address, in which the president of Republika Srpska stated that a new balance of power is forming and that the collective West can no longer impose its rules. He also pointed out that the West is no longer truly “collective,” noting that the U.S. and the EU are now moving in different directions.

“U.S. President Donald Trump advocates for sovereignty, respect for the rights of states and peoples, non-interference, and peaceful conflict resolution. On the other hand, the EU has become belligerent, and we are witnessing how the descendants of Nazis and fascists are fostering a new climate aimed at bringing fascism and Nazism back onto the scene,” Župljanin told SRNA.

He assessed that there will be no return to the old order, as the world is clearly entering a process of establishing a new multipolar order, where the core values are sovereign states, their peoples, and independent decision-making.

“It is quite certain that the sovereigntist part of the world has already gained the upper hand in some areas, and we are heading toward a new multipolar world in which power will not be centralized, but rather where states and nations will negotiate and agree on the best solutions for the benefit of humanity,” Župljanin emphasized.

He noted that Dodik’s participation in the conference in Moscow proves that Republika Srpska and its leadership are not isolated, especially given that representatives of over 100 countries are attending and that the event provides an opportunity for bilateral meetings.

“Anyone who wants to see the truth can clearly see that Milorad Dodik is one of the key peacebuilders in the Balkans, and that he promotes a policy of peace and the resolution of internal issues through democratic dialogue among the constituent peoples and entities,” Župljanin said.

Highlighting that participants will have the opportunity to learn about the security situation in the Balkans, BiH, and Republika Srpska, he stressed that it is extremely important that messages of peace reach the international community — especially in contrast to the false narrative that attempts to portray the president of Republika Srpska as a source or potential threat of conflict in BiH and the region.

Župljanin described the ongoing diplomatic efforts led by Republika Srpska — including the visit of Željka Cvijanović, Chairwoman and Serb member of the BiH Presidency, to Dayton — as essential in presenting the truth about the situation in BiH and in gaining recognition of that narrative by American officials.

“Statements that America will no longer create states and nations for others should serve as a clear message to Bosniak representatives. If they believe the Americans will build them a Bosniak unitary state and nation, they’ve now received a definitive answer — that it will not happen,” Župljanin stated.

He concluded that figures like Christian Schmidt — or any other foreign actor — will no longer be able to interfere so blatantly in the internal affairs of other countries, and that in Bosnia and Herzegovina, political and constitutional-legal crises can only be resolved through dialogue between the legitimate representatives of the three constituent peoples and two entities.
