Chinese entrepreneur to open company in Republika Srpska

Chinese entrepreneur Yunan Chai is launching a business in Republika Srpska through a company that will serve as a representative of the “BGI” corporation, which is set to become the first laboratory in Srpska for various medical research, such as prenatal testing and cancer diagnostics, according to the Investment-Development Bank (IRB) of Republika Srpska.

The meeting with Chai in Shanghai marked the conclusion of IRB’s delegation visit to China during the “China–CEEC Expo,” an international trade fair.

“We will be the first company of this kind in Republika Srpska. I am very satisfied with the investment climate offered here, especially regarding tax policy. I look forward to our cooperation,” said Yunan Chai during the meeting.

As the IRB explained, BGI is a company with nearly 40,000 employees worldwide, and Yunan Chai has already begun the process of registering the company in Srpska.

During the expo, the IRB delegation, led by acting director Srđan Jovanović, held a series of meetings with Chinese business representatives and agreed on their participation in the regional “Invest Srpska” event, which IRB organizes annually.

In addition to a business meeting prior to the fair’s official opening in Ningbo, the IRB delegation visited and held talks with numerous Chinese entrepreneurs to present investment opportunities in Republika Srpska.

At the largest investment event between China and Central and Eastern Europe, projects in infrastructure, energy, and tourism from Srpska were showcased.

The IRB representatives were in China as part of the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers, with the support and organization of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Ambassador to China, Siniša Berjan.

The IRB emphasized that this visit is one in a series of activities resulting from the strong cooperation recently reaffirmed by the meeting between the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The China–CEEC Expo was held in the city of Ningbo from May 22 to 25.
