Klokić: Calling for sanctions is a completely misguided policy

Zlatan Klokić, Minister for European Integration and International Cooperation of Republika Srpska, stated that the insistence on imposing additional sanctions on officials of Republika Srpska by politicians from the Federation of BiH, as well as some EU countries, demonstrates a completely misguided policy.

Speaking to reporters in Banja Luka, Klokić said that such actions will never bring a solution in Bosnia and Herzegovina, just as the non-paper from France and Germany will not.

“The only viable solution is one based, above all, on the constitutional order, mutual respect, and rejection of unilateral actions. Wishing sanctions upon someone and then expecting solutions in BiH is truly absurd and will never lead to anything good,” Klokić emphasized.

He pointed out that the Serb member and Chairwoman of the Presidency of BiH, Željka Cvijanović, conveyed the positions of Republika Srpska during her visit to the United States, stating that the policy of sanctions has never brought a resolution.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić yesterday informed members of the National Security Council about the non-paper prepared by France and Germany concerning BiH, which also directly affects Republika Srpska.

Večernje novosti reports that the document signals that Western powers and Brussels are preparing a harsh offensive against key leaders of Republika Srpska – President Milorad Dodik, Prime Minister Radovan Višković, and Speaker of the National Assembly Nenad Stevandić – with the aim of removing them from power under the pretext that they are allegedly working to dismantle BiH and obstruct its path toward NATO and the EU.
