Interest in cooperation with Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina was expressed by around 100 participants from 37 Chinese companies following the presentation of economic and tourism potentials at the China-CEEC Expo in the Chinese city of Ningbo.
Companies from Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH have been granted free six-month promotion of their products in Wuhan and participation in fairs across China, which represents an important step toward expanding domestic exports to the Chinese market.
Zoran Talić, Director of the Foreign Investment Sector at the Investment-Development Bank of Republika Srpska, presented investment opportunities in energy, transport, industry, and tourism, while representatives of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH highlighted various tourist attractions.
Through the engagement of the BiH Embassy in China, delegations from the IRB of Republika Srpska, the Universities of East Sarajevo and Banja Luka, and the municipalities of Laktaši, Trebinje, Brod, and Jezero participated in the Expo.
During the event, memorandums of understanding were signed regarding the twinning of Laktaši with the Chinese city of Yantai, and Brod with the city of Yuyao, according to a statement from the BiH Embassy in China.
Emphasizing the importance of strengthening economic ties with China, the event featured addresses by Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers Staša Košarac, Special Envoy of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Cooperation with CEE countries Jiang Yu, BiH Ambassador to China Siniša Berjan, as well as representatives of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH and the IRB of Republika Srpska.
The event was organized by the BiH Embassy in China, with the support of Minister Staša Košarac and in cooperation with the organizers of the Expo.
