Legal expert Ognjen Tadić stated that the news about the existence of a non-paper, by which someone from Germany is attempting to persuade the rest of the EU to adopt an aggressive policy toward Republika Srpska and its political leaders, is not surprising. However, he expressed greater concern over the claim that someone from France has joined such a policy, thereby undermining what had been a relatively balanced official French position toward Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“German authorities have long pursued such a policy. Take, for example, just the past four years: the deployment of Christian Schmidt to BiH, the sponsorship of the UN General Assembly resolution on genocide, the obstruction of signed development projects, and the sanctions imposed on the political leadership of Republika Srpska,” said Tadić.
He emphasized that France, as realistically the only major EU leader with credibility in the Balkans, should not follow the lead of countries like Germany.
“We don’t decide France’s or the EU’s policies, so we can only point out their harmfulness. But what we do decide on is our persistence in defending the Dayton Peace Agreement. On that issue, everyone must acknowledge that Republika Srpska’s position is fully reasoned and legitimate, and that those who oppose or threaten Republika Srpska are, in fact, opponents of the Dayton Agreement,” Tadić told SRNA.
Yesterday, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić informed members of the National Security Council about the non-paper drafted by France and Germany concerning BiH, which also pertains to Republika Srpska.
Večernje novosti reports that the document represents a plan by Western powers and Brussels to launch a harsh offensive against key figures of Republika Srpska—President Milorad Dodik, Prime Minister Radovan Višković, and Speaker of the National Assembly Nenad Stevandić—under the pretext that they are allegedly working to dismantle Bosnia and Herzegovina and are hindering the country’s path toward NATO and the EU.
