The working portion of the two-day conference titled “Possibilities of Cooperation with BRICS Plus – Russian Experience and the Serb Vision” is currently underway in Banja Luka.
The primary goal of the conference is to encourage expert discussion on opportunities to enhance cooperation between BRICS countries and partner states, along with analyzing previous experiences, challenges, and perspectives in Russia–Serb relations.
A special emphasis has been placed on strengthening ties between Republika Srpska, Serbia, and BRICS member states.
“One of the strongest motivators for this cooperation is the Serb people’s desire for alternatives—not only in terms of what we discuss in the academic sphere but also as nations seeking new directions. The politics conducted over the past three decades have offered very little to the Serbs,” said Yekaterina Gennadyevna, advisor to the Executive Director of the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund.
President of the “Susret” Literary Association from Trebinje, Mialna Babić, emphasized that the goal is to bring the BRICS topic into the narrative of Republika Srpska.
“We are trying to break the ice and introduce the BRICS topic into the narrative of Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the wider region. At the same time, we aim to position ourselves as a kind of bridge between East and West,” Babić concluded.
