Professor Drago Vuković stated today that the main creator of the crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina is the illegitimate Christian Schmidt, who has led BiH into a constitutional and legal crisis.
Vuković recalled that President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, in his address yesterday before the National Assembly, called for an agreement with the Federation of BiH and sent very important messages. However, he questioned whether those messages would reach political actors in Sarajevo and what their response would be.
“In one part of the speech, Dodik spoke about the need for negotiation, without the Bosniak political elite withdrawing later as they did in the past—when they initially agreed, only to backtrack. They are refusing to talk and reach an agreement because someone told them not to accept internal dialogue, as they hope unitarization will happen soon,” Vuković told RTRS.
He said that thirty years after the Dayton Agreement, BiH is experiencing the most severe political crisis, and that it is shameful for a country in the 21st century to have a foreign administrator.
Vuković noted that there is also a crisis of international law, since the UN Security Council—as the key body—did not appoint Schmidt.
He also emphasized that Dodik called for political unity within Republika Srpska and expressed concern that the opposition walked out of the parliamentary session during the president’s address.
“That is a very poor indicator of our unity, which is urgently needed,” Vuković stressed.
